Why In-Person Therapy Matters

In recent years, telehealth has become a convenient option for counseling, and for many clients it works very well. But research continues to show that in-person therapy often has unique benefits that can’t always be replicated online. Meeting face-to-face helps children engage more deeply in play therapy, allows couples to connect with fewer distractions, and gives families the chance to work together in the same room. The physical therapy space itself becomes a safe container for emotions, communication, and growth — something many clients find harder to achieve over a screen.

A 2021 study published by the American Psychological Association found that while telehealth is highly effective for many conditions, in-person sessions tend to foster stronger therapeutic alliances, deeper engagement, and higher satisfaction rates for clients who prefer face-to-face interaction (APA, 2021). This means that choosing to come into the office may enhance the overall impact of therapy.

That’s why we encourage clients from across the Eastside to visit our Woodinville office whenever possible. Most of our neighboring communities are just a short drive away:

  • Bothell – less than 10 minutes away, about 4 miles.

  • Redmond – only 6 miles, around 12 minutes by car.

  • Kirkland – roughly 8 miles, just 15 minutes away.

  • Kenmore – about 6 miles, 12–15 minutes by car.

  • Lake Forest Park – about 9 miles, 20 minutes away.

  • Sammamish – around 10 miles, typically 20 minutes depending on traffic.

  • Duvall – roughly 8 miles, only 15 minutes away.

  • Monroe – about 12 miles, 20 minutes by car.

  • Mill Creek – about 10 miles, around 18 minutes.

  • Lynnwood – 13 miles, 20–22 minutes away.

Choosing in-person sessions means you and your family can experience the full effectiveness of therapy in a dedicated environment. Our office is designed to be calm, welcoming, and private — a place where you can step out of daily stress and focus fully on yourself, your relationships, and your family’s growth.

While telehealth remains available for those who need flexibility, we encourage you to take advantage of how close you are to our Woodinville office and experience the benefits of meeting in person.
